About Planet A

Engineers building what the planet needs.

The built environment can't reach zero carbon on advice alone — it needs better products. We started Planet A to do the hard maths and the hard graft, and turn it into the buildings, systems and methods the world actually needs.

Our story

Founded on Cornish cider,
in 2019.

Planet A began with a simple frustration: too much climate consultancy stops at the slideshow. So a group of energy and building-physics engineers in Truro decided to do it differently — rigorous engineering, delivered on the ground, and turned into products and methods that actually ship.

Today we work across the whole energy system — from a single retrofit to national grid strategy, and Zero Bills homes engineered with Octopus Energy — proving low-carbon building at real scale. We're proudly Cornish, and our work reaches across England, Wales and beyond.

What we stand for

Four things we won't compromise.

01

Rigour over rhetoric

We work from first principles and back every recommendation with the numbers. No greenwash, no guesswork.

02

Innovation that ships

We don't stop at the slideshow. We prototype, prove and productise the methods, systems and tools the transition is missing.

03

Honest advice

We tell clients what's actually possible, what it costs and what it saves — even when it isn't what they hoped to hear.

04

Whole-system thinking

Buildings, energy and people are one system. We design across all of it — fabric, heat, power and grid — so the answer works on site, not just on paper.

The founders

Engineers who met over a shared mission.

Planet A is led by its two co-founders — senior engineers with doctorate-level depth in energy systems and building physics, and a habit of getting their hands dirty on site.

Partners & collaborators

We don't do this alone.

University of Exeter

Our partner in accredited training and net-zero leadership programmes for the wider sector.

Verto Homes

Our R&D partner — where new low-carbon building methods get prototyped, monitored and proven on real homes.

Octopus Energy

Planet A are the energy architects behind Verto Homes' Zero Bills developments, working hand in glove with Octopus Energy to engineer solar, battery and heat pump into every home and meet Octopus's Zero Bills standard.
